Richard Nixon a Victim of Circumstances?
I have always looked at Nixon with more sympathetic eyes. While I do not think he was without sin, I do not think he was any better or worse than most politicians of the day. I think Nixon was the product of his generation and totally a product of the political culture in the US at the time.

Trump Tower
I hope he plans to stay at the White House just for the reasons listed by Katie and Siggy. I just think he would be safer at the White House. I truly fear for his life more than I have for any other president, which is very sad.

Jackie
Has anyone seen the movie trailer for the new movie Jackie, starring Natalie Portman? It looks truly amazing and I cannot wait to see it! It is centered around the days following the assassination and looks like it has been done amazingly well.

Left Behind series
Was this series made into a movie? I seem to recall a movie of that title in the last few years. The movie looked interesting. It's about the rapture, correct?

Anatomy Of A Second Floor Lunch Room Encounter
Archie wrote: The more I read and hear this, the more something becomes quite clear to me.   Oswald was a patsie who took the fall because whatever he was assigned to do and where....he failed miserably at it. Had he done what he was told to do and where.....and when....he may never have been found out. He was assigned a job and when he failed at it, THAT'S when the word patsie came into play. Think about it... you have another gunman, possibly more, who did their jobs effectively and were never caught. Oswald was the odd man out because he failed.

Just something to ponder.

That is actually a rather provoking thought, Archie! I have always thought it was too huge of a coincidence that Oswald has such strikes against him. Whether he was chosen specifically to cover for the ill deeds of others, or if he was part of the scheme and just not very good at it, it certainly makes one think.

Your gut feeling
I have to agree with you Siggy. I sure do wish I was wrong, but Hillary is like Teflon. No matter what she does, it just keeps sliding right off her. Nothing sticks, especially with her base.

Killing Reagan
Brad, I highly recommend it if you get the opportunity. They did a fantastic job, as they usually do with Bill O'Reilly's Killing series. I still have to see Killing Jesus.

Killing Reagan
Yes, it is hard to believe it was 35 years ago! I was a schoolgirl back then, and I remember watching the footage on the TV news. It was different back then, though, because coverage was not so in your face as it is now. You had to wait until the evening news aired to learn anything. There was no 24-hour news channels, at least where I lived in northern Vermont.

Killing Reagan
I had the pleasure to see Killing Reagan last night, and it was really good. I thought Tim Matheson and Cynthia Nixon did an excellent job capturing the President and First Lady. Joel Murray was a dead ringer for Hinkley. Did anyone else get a chance to see it?

Simply amazing.
Thanks to all!

I am not very familiar with podcasts. Are they always available, or do you have to tune in when they are "live" to listen? I will definitely check it out, and I will have to check out your link also. Thank you for your efforts and congratulations on your podcast ranking!!

Midwest travel suggestions
I absolutely love Colorado, so I am a little jealous that you are going to be doing a road trip out there! I have always wanted to take my kids on a road trip like that and stop at every roadside America stop along the way. That would be so much fun! With that being said, there is an actual website called Roadside America that lists interesting roadside attractions by state.

Kennedy Library
So, my parents just returned from a week away traveling up through New England. They stopped at the Kennedy Library on the way back home. They loved it! It was highly recommended to anyone to go. My mother found that listening to JFK's inaugural speech was so inspiring and so fitting for what is going on today in our country.

Kennedy Library
I will certainly keep everyone posted about their visit, assuming they actually make it there! I think I would actually like to visit all the presidential libraries. What a great way to get a feel for the President than to visit his library and see personal items and artifacts?

George Magazine
I actually did read George magazine. It was a pretty amazing concept in its day. I'm not sure how it would have played out even if John had never died tragically. If I recall, the magazine was starting to flounder in the issues immediately before he died.

Kennedy Library
My parents are going to the Kennedy Library next week as part of a mini-vacation. My mom is so excited about it as she has never been before. Do we have any members here who have gone? If so, what was your favorite part about the experience? Any information I can pass along?

Chasing Conspiracies on American Heroes Channel - RFK
Yes, I have to keep my eye on when it comes on. Unfortunately, I see these great previews for shows and then I get side tracked and forget when they are on. So, I have to make more of an effort to remember. I might even need to put a reminder on my calendar!

Colin Kaepernick not Standing for National Anthem
I am torn over this issue. I find his "protest" disrespectful, and I am not in agreement with it at all. On the other hand, the first amendment guarantees his right to protest. I also am mindful of the fact that the NFL does not require it. So, I dislike his platform, but must respect his right to use that platform.

Chasing Conspiracies on American Heroes Channel - RFK
I just saw a promo for a show on the American Heroes Channel (AHC) called Chasing Conspiracies, and one of the shows is entitled "Was There Another Gunman Who Killed RFK?". I have to admit that I am pretty excited to see it. I can't get a clear idea from their website when the show will be on. It looks like the show typically runs on Wednesday nights at 10 PM. This week features the death of Hitler, so I hope I don't miss it when it comes on.

*Interesting, LadyJ, thanks for sharing the specifics (channel, program title, airing time, etc). Sounds intriguing.

Given that the accused assassin's .22 caliber gun held only 8 total bullets, and RFK was hit 3 times himself from behind, and 6 others were also wounded by gunfire in the food pantry, the math alone suggests more than one gunman. Moreover, according to multiple on scene eye-witnesses, Sirhan's position was never behind the late senator. American Heroes is an apt title for Robert F. Kennedy (RIP)...

Can they do that?
It's a nightmare no matter which way you slice it. I have gotten to the point that I can't even turn on the news these days I just get so disgusted.

Anatomy Of A Second Floor Lunch Room Encounter
I would like to think that if I heard gun shots that pigeons would be the least of my worries, but call me silly. [wink]

Based on the information provided, I do not see how they can even say that Oswald had anything to do with this, I don't care how many times they revise the story. In fact, questions were even being raised back in 1963 by Leo Sauvage in the Lowell Sun, and I have to agree with him! As he stated "assuming he was the assassin, he had to cross the floor from the window where the shots were fired, to the opposite side of the building, in order to reach the staircase (after concealing the rifle behind some packing boxes), run down four flights of stairs, walk to the lunch room, put a dime in the vending machine and open the bottle.  Truly and the policeman did not report that Oswald was panting nor show other signs of having been running.”

There is no way Oswald could have done all of that in the amount of time it took Officer Baker to hear the shot, go directly to the building when the pigeons flew, run in, go up the stairs and encounter Oswald. We are talking about 2-3 minutes.

From NARA by ROKC
I do find it a rather odd coincidence that Oswald was carrying a bag with curtain rods in it. Any other day it would be a plausible story and not even very noteworthy but on this day it raises a red flag. I have to wonder to what extent Oswald truly was involved in the assassination attempt on the President, even if he didn't directly pull the trigger. Perhaps I am missing something, and someone else can enlighten me on what I missed.

Or perhaps these documents were tampered with to more correctly "align" with the story the government wanted to tell? I have to agree with Siggy, I am left with more questions than answers.

What is your favorite music genre?
I love all kind of music, from death metal to country to oldies to show tunes to jazz, and just about every other genre you can think of! I think I have just about every music genre represented in my music library, from just about ever decade in the last 80 years, and I love it because when I have my library on shuffle, you never know what is coming next. It could be something from this decade or something from the 1950's. It can be disco or new age. Rock or pop. I love it all!

Who Killed RFK?
That is pretty crazy. I am less familiar with RFK that I originally was with JFK, so all of this is new information to me. I look forward to reading more in this section to learn more about Thane Eugene Cesar.

Oath of Office
I love the term "slugfest" because that is exactly what it will be at the convention this election. Reading in the news that Cruz and Kasich are teaming up to rob Trump of his delegates made me cringe...not because I want Trump to win, but because it is just one more act in an already too long circus. It's embarrassing! And the fact that Trump seems to get more popular after each new "issue" just makes it all the worse!

Oath of Office
If the Boston Globe made a satirical front page for ALL the candidates, that would make sense and actually be a welcome format, but to just pick on the one candidate (and believe me, I am no fan of that candidate) really speaks to the greater issue in this country, which is the inherent bias of the media.
